CVS: Green Bag Tag Card!

CVS has joined so many other stores in encouraging their customers to “go Green”

Next time you are in CVS look for the new Green Bag Tags that are available for purchase at $.99 each (I assume that these will be near the registers).

Then, each time you go to CVS and bring your own bags, have them scan that card.  After every 4th scan, you will earn $1 Extra Care Buck! (although it is a limit of 1 scan per household per day)

Thanks Couponing To Disney!

It’s nice to see CVS encouraging their customers to bring their own bags, so I will refrain from making any “why should they charge us for the card when grocery stores don’t and they will be saving money by not having to provide bags” comments…although I guess I just did.  The bottom line is – the less plastic bags that ed up in landfills – the better!

Love this! i take my own bags already, so spending $1 to earn ECBs? I’m all over this! Thanks!

I use these types of bags all the time! I just wish stores would train their personnel on how to pack them.

I was at Tar-jay the other day with my red bag. Handed it to the cashier for my purchases, and the entire time she was ringing up my order she was griping about the bag: they don’t fit their bag holders, it slows down their register time, you have to use one hand to hold the bag, etc. etc. and she was training a new cashier!

Very frustrating!!

I found out that Target will give you a nickel off for every reusable bag yu brin gin to use. It doesnt have to be a Target one, it can be any kind.

Give it some time and I bet they will be free after ECB, wouldn’t you think?

$1 after every 4 uses is very generous, IMO $0.25. It pays for itself after 4 (5 if they won’t scan it the day you purchase/activate it) trips w/no expiration date? Most people in my area don’t buy more than 1-2 bags of items in a trip to CVS.

Whole Foods pays $0.05/bag, and they no longer “double” for reusable bags (as opposed to store plastic bags).

Shaw’s Grocery store does not pay, but did have a few free bags over the summer (a free coupon, then another free bag coupon in the new bag).

This is a great idea, props to CVS. I have no problem paying 99 cents (with an ECB, of course!) to cover the cost of the tag, as I’ll be getting so much more back. 25 cents back per use is wonderful, especially since most grocery stores in my area no longer give “bag credit.” I’ve been using reusable bags for almost 20 years now! Am thinking of getting some Joey Totes, as they look like they’d last longer and not get so grungy.

I think it’s a great idea and very generous. I would rather pay a buck for the card than pay a buck for another tote-I have enough of them. 4 trips, card is paid for, then it keeps on giving! Kudos to CVS!

Paying that 99-cents might help me remember even more often than I do now to take my bag in with me :) I’m getting better about it and I try to always set my coupon binder down on the bag in the front seat so I see and grab both. But there are still times I forget. If buying and having that green card helps me, then bonus :)
