Tuesday Tee-hee!

in Genuardis, general

You’re THAT woman, aren’t you?  The one who always has all the coupons?

Have you heard that line from a cashier yet?  It’s a line I figured that cashiers THOUGHT, but would never actually say.  But it happened yesterday!

Since I am away next week (but at my in-laws, so I should be able to update this site as normal, although the Giant post may not go up until Sunday night), I wanted to take one last opportunity to take advantage of Genuardi’s Summer Savings Marathon.

I got in line and loaded up the belt with what was clearly a “stock up shop” and not a “weekly shop” and the cashier took one look at me with my handful of coupons and said “You’re that woman aren’t you?  The one who always has all the coupons?”

The conversation then went like this:

Me:  (laughing) I guess I’m no longer flying under the radar, eh?  I know that the cashiers here think I’m a pain in…

Her: (interrupting, but still working on my transaction while we talk) Oh no it’s not that!  I had just heard that there is a woman who comes in with 3 kids who always gets tons of things for a few dollars and we were just trying to figure out how you do it!  I use coupons myself and I can’t figure it out!

Me:  it’s really not that hard.  It’s just a matter of clipping the coupons, keeping them organized and then sitting on them until they match up with a really good sale!

Woman behind me:  how much can you really save with coupons though?

Cashier:  (looking at my receipt)  she just saved 83%

Me: and I’m now set on Diet Pepsi Max for a few weeks….but right now I’m worried about my Catalina not printing out (if you read this site, you know that is a problem that I have had with 2 of the past 3 transactions)

Cashier:  Oh – I should have told you as soon as I realized who you were!  My machine is broken!  Just go to the CS desk and they’ll give you a gift card!  And one of these days I want you to teach me how you do it!

Woman behind me:  I might like to know too

Me:  I have a free site where I pull out and list the best deals each week.  It’s MomsNeedToKnow.com.

I don’t know why, but considering all the bad experiences I have had at that store lately, I just found this funny (oh – and note to local readers who shop at the same Genuardi’s as me:  the Catalina machine in Aisle 5 is broken.   However, I would MUCH rather have the gift card than the Catalina, since I can use that for smaller purchases!)

You need to move by me so you can do my local stores. (or at LEAST do Target for us!)

*laugh* That’s an awesome story… I just started, but I know there’s one cashier starting to recognize me at CVS. I walked up to the register this morning and only set down one coupon. He kind of looked at it, then looked at me like “Is that it? Really?” Hehe.

That’s a neat story. Atleast it was a positive encounter. The cashiers at my Walgreens have grown to expect the stack. The seasoned cashiers are not phased but it really got to a newbie the other day. I kinda felt sorry for her.

LOL One of the Genaurdis gals also works at Staples she was there when I was get the .01 items a few weeks back.

Lately there has only been one lane open when I am there, but gift cards are ok with me.

BTW be really carefull with the prices that things are ringing up at Genaurdis Just this week alone I have been refunded over $17 (although they give you the first item free that rings up the wrong, and then adjust the remaining items so I have ended up ahead each time)

I don’t do a whole lot of picture taking of my deals, but the last few days I have done well, so I took a quick picture in the basement before we put everything away.

http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n68/dianescraps/100_1526.jpg Missing from pic 15 more jars Ragu, 2 Tavas, 15 boxes of tissues, 2 jars salsa, 10 bottles Sprite . . . at least to the best of my memory, some stuff never actually comes home it goes to friends, family and charity

This is mostly Genuardis deals, shampoos are Kmart though.

I don’t have my receipts in front of me, but I believe my out of pocket, including the inital to start rolling the $20 catalina is at about $35

Funny story. Sometimes at Giant when I have a stack of coupons, the other cashiers like to see how much money I saved. Obviously, this is not when they are busy. :)

Fortunately my usual cashiers are friendly and cooperative.
I love that skeptical woman behind you! Sometimes people don’t really believe what coupons can do for you unless they see it first hand like that.
